The role involves taking a clinical role in MRI scanning within the Radiology Department . You will need to be an expert in MRI scanning with experience in all aspects of MRI including complex procedures. You will be responsible for delivering MRI training to new Radiographers and other appropriate staff. It will involve line management responsibilities for staff working within MRI. You will also work closely with the CT team proving cross sectional imaging to the hospital.
Main duties of the job
- To undertake an expertise role in MRI scanning, being recognised as a highly specialised practitioner and able to perform a large array of complex MRI scanning procedures
- To support the MRI team in the provision of MRI imaging in Radiology
- To organise and coordinate workload in MRI on a daily basis, maximising efficiency using available resources and managing patient priority as appropriate
- To use advanced, highly specialised knowledge to enable development of advanced MRI techniques and the autonomy to adapt these to ensure best image quality and lowest radiation doses to patients are achieved
- To use advanced MRI knowledge to suggest and implement new MRI scanning protocols and actively review and amend existing protocols to embrace best practice in MRI imaging
- To assist the Modality leads and Team lead when required, to ensure effective day-to-day management of the CT/MRI team
- To support the Operational Lead Radiographer, Lead Radiographers, Daily Coordinator & Staffing Coordinator in operational issues across the whole department
- To line manage Radiographers contracted to work in MRI, as required, with associated responsibilities
- To be involved with the Recruitment of Radiographers and support staff
- To be responsible for the supervision and teaching of Band 6 Radiographers, Band 5 Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners, Apprentices and Student Radiographers as appropriate in all aspects of MRI scanning

Qualifications And Training
Essential criteria
- BSc in Radiography (or equivalent)
- Experience in line management and supervision of a staff group
- Evidence of post graduate education
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience in MRI scanning to include complex MRI procedures
- Extensive experience teaching MRI theory and practical skills
- Extensive knowledge of MRI safety issues to provide advice on safe scanning of patients
- Experience in line management and supervision of a staff group

- Current/previous team management experience
- Ability to prioritise and work to own deadlines making effective use of time
- Effective management and leadership skills to maximise effective use of equipment
- Ability to demonstrate negotiation skills to justify clinical prioritisation
Essential criteria
- Ability to listen to patient and staff concerns and deal confidentially, professionally and objectively with a range of issues
- Experience in dealing with conflict resolution or where decision-making is challenged
